FAQ

When is the right time to take a class in my pregnancy?

Ideally you should take your classes between week 32 and 37 of your pregnancy. You will want the info fresh in your mind as you prepare for your birth while also having a big enough belly to be able to actually find comfort and enjoy the comfort measures you learn. If you were hoping to use class to help you select a birth place and health care provider that matches your birth values and wishes, just REACH OUT to us and we’ll help you find one before your class starts.

Do you teach Lamaze breathing techniques?

While all our educators are certified in Lamaze, the philosophy of Lamaze Childbirth Education has changed over the years. It is no longer a breathing technique focused class and instead is based on the Lamaze Healthy Birth Practices. We use science, research, and pedagogy to help us craft custom curriculum. Our classes are built to help you identify your most important values in addition to filling you up with all the tips, tricks, and strategies to having a birth that leaves you feeling empowered and whole.

Which class is right for me?

If you are a first time birthing person we recommend taking the birthED Lamaze Class. It is 12 hours of education spread over 3 to 4 sessions depending on the days you take it. We offer this class monthly and our students often end up connecting and building a little community that they enjoy for years to come as their babies grow.

If you are a veteran parent who has had a least one baby there are a few options for you. Our Express + Refresh class is a perfect 4 hour class that is built to remind you of birthing phases plus give you some coping/comfort strategies. If your previous birth was a cesarean we have our VBAC Prep class that is custom made for families who have had a previous surgical birth.

We also suggest that any first time birthing student who plans to breastfeed/chestfeed also register for our Lactation + Newborn Care Class to prepare to feed your baby. This class is taught by our IBCLC, Nicole Stecker and is a super fun 3 hour class.
